The Company: Janelle Abbott
Janelle Abbott began her career with the Grand Rapids Ballet in Michigan.
Under the direction of Robert Estner and Charthel Arthur, she performed
leading roles in Gaite Parisienne, Phillip Jerry's Realm of Light,
Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Romeo and Juliet. Janelle went on to
earn a BFA from the University of Utah Ballet Department, where she studied
with and performed original works by Conrad Ludlow, Attila Ficzere, Bene Arnold,
and Molissa Fenley. She has also been involved in various regional musical
theatre productions, including The Music Man, South Pacific, and
UTAH! The Musical. Janelle has performed in a variety of New York City
venues, including Ballet Builders 2002, E-Moves at Aaron Davis Hall, the Field
Day, and the American Dance Guild Awards, as well as with the Blue Muse Dance
Project, the Kennedy Dancers, and Vasquez Dance Ensemble. She is a founding
member of Slam's company Elements and has assisted him on many projects.
Janelle has taught at both Broadway Dance Center and at Steps on Broadway.
She has been working with Octavia Cup Dance Theatre since Spring 2000.
